What to Pack for Your Next Boat Day

by Boatanista

There’s nothing better than spending the day out on the boat in the warm sun and open waters. Whether you are taking your own boat out or you’re using one from a boat club, it is always important to be prepared. Not sure what you’ll need for a successful trip on the water? Here’s what you should pack for your next boat day:

The Essentials

Plenty of Snacks and H2O

A day out on the water can be tiring, so make sure you have food to fuel up to keep you and your family energized. Stock your cooler with plenty of water to stay hydrated and lots of ice to keep your goodies fresh. Some boat-friendly foods include pretzels, trail mix, carrot sticks, fresh fruit, pasta salads, and wraps and sandwiches!

Towels

There is no such thing as packing too many towels. Just think: you use towels to lounge on the boat, to dry off after swimming and to clean up when you hop back into your car at the end of the day. Or, if you just so happen to take an “accidental” dip in the water, you’ll be happy you brought more! Trust me, extra towels are a must.

Sunscreen

Prevent the pain of sunburn from those harmful UV rays by packing plenty of waterproof sunscreen. The higher the SPF, the better! Don’t forget to reapply often, especially if you’re spending a lot of time in the water.

A Hat and Sunglasses

Speaking of the sun, don’t forget your sunglasses and a hat. Let’s face it, nobody likes to spend all day squinting or risk burning their scalp. Warning: it’s pretty painful! If you’re still not convinced about bringing sunglasses, it’s important to know that they can protect your eyes from harmful conditions caused by UV rays. They should definitely be your must-have accessory for any outing. Brands like Ocean Waves Sunglasses offer durable eyewear that protects your eyes from both UVA and UVB damage. If you’re a Freedom Boat Club member, you can receive discounts to awesome businesses like Ocean Waves. Who doesn’t like to save money while staying protected? Ultimately, you’ll be shielding your face from the sun and be more comfortable at the same time—it’s a win-win!

Your Boat Bag

The Fun Stuff

Water Floats

Planning to anchor out and soak up the sun? You can’t go wrong with floaties, noodles and tubes for ultimate fun and relaxation.

Watersports Equipment

If you’re looking to make things a little more exciting, bring along your towable tube, ZUP Board, wakeboard or water skis. There’s truly a watersport for every age and skill level!

A Good Boat Read

Do you have a bookworm on board? Whether you’re floating around on a tube or lounging on the deck, the water is quite a blissful place to get lost in a good read.

Boating Jams

Even if you don’t have a sound system on your boat, you can bring along your bluetooth speaker with a prepared playlist to set the mood. Need some inspiration? Check out my blog: Top 10 Songs About Boating for Your Playlist.
